Armed Forces Day at Columbia, SC’s Fort Jackson

Fort Jackson and the Celebrate Freedom Foundation are hosting “Thunder at Fort Jackson” on Saturday, May 16, 2009. Timing for the activities is from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and the events will be located at Hilton Field on Fort Jackson. The event is free and a fun day for the family to get out and learn about military history in a fun and exciting way. There will be a variety of demonstrations of military equipment and re-enactments illustrating various wars throughout our nation’s history. This will include the Vietnam War, WWII, Revolutionary War, and Indian Wars. Military hardware on display will include vehicles, artillery, and more. There will be plenty of food and drink and also a children’s area. If you decide to come make sure you have a drivers license, automobile registration, and proof of insurance in order to be admitted onto the base. Come early to avoid traffic and parking delays.
